I've been holding out on you.

(on pics, I mean)

We just keep waiting for Dez to show some personality...

Did I really not post on this??

Um...really? I keep looking back through my posts since my birthday (January) and it's not there. I'm disappointed. What's gotten into me? I mean, it's not like Dez is crawling all over the house with no respect for the word "no".

I GOT TO SEE SHARON! My Sharon! My Guatemalan roomie extrordinare! (She's not Guatemalan, just to clarify.)

AND!! She brought the whole fam this time! Which means I got to see B, her daughter, who I haven't seen since July of 07. Which also means Eliot and B haven't seen each other since they were a few months older than 1. As you can tell, it didn't take long to get reacquianted...Good thing they live across the country from each other, egad! (Also note, Eliot wanted to wear his Guatemalan soccer jersey for B.)

Just a reminder of those faces 5 years ago...

We decided we should always see each other on my birthday. Shouldn't be a problem, right?

5 year old Eliot via my status updates so far in '12:

*As I'm cleaning the bathroom, Eliot strolls by without stopping and says, "Make it shiny, Mom."

*Eliot keeps asking what presents he's getting for Presents Day on Monday. (Presidents Day)

*Listening to Eliot tell Russ about the Valentine he's making for a girl in his class. I'm equaling enamored with his cuteness and ready to lock him in a closet until he's 28.

*Based upon how quickly he DOESN'T move when I really need him to, I'm guessing Eliot won't be a fireman when he grows up.

*A first for this fam! In Eliot's room last night helping him get ready for bed, he took off his sock and threw it toward the clothes hamper, except it hit the wall and stuck there. Hashtag: boysaregross. (I'm rebelling against all the #.)

*Walking home from school, a guy leaned out his window to "holla" at me ("Hey girl! or something). Eliot said, "Mom, quit being rude and say hello!"

*Eliot told me this morning that I wear my hat like a girl.

*Walking into the art museum, Eliot says, "mom, there's some inappropriate stuff here...

*Eliot has started referring to Russ Mohr as "pretty girl". It's killing me.

*"Mom, it's not slippery out here!" famous last words...

*Eliot: Mom, how far away is the airport?
Me: Um, a little ways, why?
Eliot: I'd like to go to Africa.

Princess Run!

My dear friend Joy (if you're new here, she's Russ' cousin/one of my besties) emailed me months ago and asked if I'd consider joining her for her first half marathon, casually mentioning it was the Princess half marathon at Disney World. Um...yes. So, training started again.

We arrived Thursday night, played in the parks Friday and Saturday and ran on Sunday morning, then I headed home Monday. It was perfect timing for a getaway weekend for me. Haven't taken a break from real life for awhile and while I didn't get much rest, it was a blast. It's always healthy to miss your children once in awhile! Chewing on cheeks resumed quickly on Monday, no worries.

Enjoy the photo dump with selected commentary...

Meet Selby and Sal! Our official cheering section for the race!

Waiting for the bus...enjoying coffee instead of strollers, diaper bags, etc.

Prepping for the race w/ a couple of footmen...

I told you I hate roller coasters...

We were 12 kinds of serious about A Bug's Life.

Of course we were invited to be apart of a Flash Mob while walking into the park on Saturday. Things like this randomly pop up when I'm on vaca w/ Joy. Not sure why.

Highlight of my day. If you couldn't tell.

Oh hey, Henna artist...Yes please! (curls compliments of "no heat curls" via pinterest!)

RACE DAY! was 3:00 in the morning in this pic. You should know this. You should also know our tutus were custom made by Sal! You should also know I'm still wearing it. Right now.

Well, yes, I'll quit running to hang with you fellas...

About to run through Cinderella's castle! Best moment of the run!

We did it!

So proud of Joy for finishing her first half! What an honor to be next to her in this moment!
