Lunchtime surprise.

So, I'm trying to get Eliot to eat his carrots (the age-old fight between mom and son) when a taxi pulls up to the front door. Sharon and I look at each other confused and I went to the front window to investigate. Upon a peek through the window, whom do I see? Oh, just Russ. Russ is in Guatemala. WHAT? I couldn't be happier, I mean, how great is that?

After a little explanation from Russ including a card w/ 28 names listed, I owe a huge thank you to Bridgeway Elementary and friends. (sidenote for those of you who don't know: Bridgeway was the school I worked at for the last 4 years) I am in total disbelief of the amazing gift you gave me of more time w/ my husband during this trying time. 18 days of Russ, to be precise. There is nothing I could have asked for that could be better. Eliot has already been reaching for Russ like it's no big thing and he's only been here a couple hours. This was a huge surprise and I can't thank those 28 of you enough. Holy cow! THANK YOU!!

"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!"
Psalm 34:8

He is so good to us what a gracious God he is!! You look out your window on a normal day and you see your Husband he sees his wife!! What a beautiful picture of the gospel. When we can see Jesus face to face, the one who loves us most, the one we love the most. One day we will get to see him face to face. Just like out the blue you got to see Russ face to face. You are seeing today Katie, everyday you look at Russ, everyday you look at Eliot, you see that our great God is nothing but good. Even when times are hard, you’re anxious, sad, discouraged, He is still good.
I love you dear friends; I thank God for putting you guys in my life. I am so excited for the years to come. Cry out to the Lord he hears you. I know this is all over the place but you guys are just on my heart and I have faith that the Lord is at work and he wants you to see that he is at work and I know you know that but he wants you to know that he is near he is close and he just wanted you to have the gift of seeing your husband. That is just a small present compared to what he is going to give you. So once again, Taste and see that the Lord is good.

:-D

Tell Russ he better think of me at least once while he is gone or I will continue to be greatly offended and cry myself to sleep nightly. Jerk.

Hehe, but then again, I really shouldn't get my hopes up, all things considered. ;-)
