Gray day.

Today is blah. Yesterday was beautiful outside but a yucky day. During my lunch hour I went to the park to eat my lunch. And by 'park' I mean the parking lot smack in the middle of Target and Hobby Lobby. Yep, I was the awkward girl sitting alone in the car in the back of the parking lot looking happily from left to right as I slurped on my strawberry lime-aide. Then I did one thing that always makes me happy in a probably unhealthy way: I bought a gray cotton t-shirt ($6, V-neck w/ pocket @ Target, people!Go!). I have a little bit of a co-dependency with gray cotton. I love it (wear it) in the best of times and especially the worst of times. It has been my default for y.e.a.r.s.

So, for you on this gray day in the STL, I give you: gray cotton.

Happy.

I received a blog award last week! It's been awhile since that happened and I was delightfully surprised! At first I assumed it was an award for "assuming everyone wants to see as many pictures of my child as I do", but lo, it was the Happy Award. which is rather timely given my CRABBINESS this week. (This also serves as my public service announcement to steer clear of one Katie Mohr.)

I received the award from my friend Diane. I don't think we've ever met but went to the same college and have several mutual friends and you know how the bloggy world goes.

Here are the rules:

1. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
2. List who gave the award to you and use a link to her blog (or hyperlink).
3. List 10 things that make you happy.
4. Pass the award on to other bloggers and visit their blog to let them know about the award.

Bits of my weekend, vol. 7

Guess what my Friday night looked like?

Saturday we got to spend the day with the Amundson girls!

Daisy tells the best secrets...

A little something for Baby C, a little something for me...

Another reason I love Lisa.

STL hosted a couple tornadoes this weekend. Right after the girls left, the sirens went off and E and I went down to the basement. He kept asking why we were hiding from tomatoes. I'm pretty sure he'll never watch Veggie Tales again.

Sodium intake much?

Raining outside? No problem, just play ball inside! A perfect hit and running "the bases".

We started the weekend with games, and ended with games!

The moment my heart burst.

Yes, it's a terrible picture. On purpose. Because the one on the right is my kid but the one on the left isn't.

At the park on Sunday I was pushing E-beast on the swing and this cute little girl (who said she was 2 yrs old but she was awfully big for that) asked if I would push her, too. I told her I would be happy to, but to go ask her mom if it was okay, to which she replied, "But she's in the car way over there." Keep in mind this is a fairly large park and all the cars are pretty far away. I asked if she was with someone else and she said her sisters were here, too, but they were in the car.

So, I put her in the swing next to E. They were silly and had "races" and giggled. After awhile she pointed and said her sisters were coming. They were probably around 7 and 9ish and she wanted to get down to play with them. She followed them up to the highest slide but she was too scared to go down the slide and began crying. They made fun of her and kept playing elsewhere, leaving her stranded.

Eliot looked at me with big eyes and said, "Mommy! Let's save her!"

He doesn't get it yet, but he's totally on board with fostering. He's gonna rock it. Probably better than we will.

Bits of my weekend, vol. 6

his.laugh.kills.me.

I thought maybe a pretty picture would make everything glamorous? Aaaaand, nope.

BUT! It does show this turn into this!

St. Louis has the city sectioned off into zones and each one has a designated day to clean up their neighborhood. Our block was pretty low key but we had a great time!

Back into the alley for fun with the dumpsters!

And a hearty time-out in someone's driveway...

The Neibs!

Off to a matinee with my favorite dragon (daisy) trainer.

And training our small fuzzy dragon...

Trip to the park with the Werks!

Isn't she ridiculous?! So cute!

He's watching you...
